2026 Mango Project
Greetings to all our faithful Ruma Abedona Hospice supporters!
The purpose of this additional communication is to provide an update on this yearās Mango Project.
Sadly, my reason for this note is to let you know that the mango season has failed this year ā very little flowering, hence very few mangoes. The representative from the Department of Agriculture in Kununurra advised that orchards in Darwin and Queensland have faced the same problem, so any mangoes that do become available will very expensive this year. Hope you froze some in 2025 like we did!!
In addition, the escalating costs associated with airfares to send our volunteers to Kununurra and the freight costs to transport the mangos to Perth due to the fuel supply issue, had caused us to give deep and prayerful consideration to the viability of the project.
The funds raised from last yearās mango crop were used to fund the installation of solar power on the roof of the hospice. as well as almost paying for the 2 electric cars that were desperately needed to continue home visitations (normally 3 cars 6 days per week) during this fuel crisis. These finances are āover and aboveā the regular donations we receive which go towards the day to day running expenses.
The mango crop has only failed twice in the 16 years since Dave Den gifted us the first pallet of mangos.
We are so grateful to all those faithful supporters who have sold and/or bought mangos over these 16 years and we are sorry to those who will undoubtedly be disappointed not to have the opportunity to enjoy the fruit this year.
If you feel you are able to make a donation in lieu of receiving a $60 box of mangoes, your gift will be tax deductible as always.
Be assured that like any donation you make to RAH, all funds we receive will be transferred to the team in Kolkata to support the amazing work they do to support patients and their families. The team here in Perth are volunteers and do not receive any remuneration for all the amazing work they do for RAH.
Itās ALL FOR JESUS, ALWAYS
